If you are a Dog Cancer Kit member or an Ask Dr. Dressler member, the most frequently asked questions are answered on this page. If you don’t find the answer you are looking for, or if you still need assistance, please contact Customer Support or use the form at the bottom of this page to submit your question.

When will my paperback arrive?

We ship your paperback edition of The Dog Cancer Survival Guide from our printer on the mainland as soon as possible, usually the next business day after your initial purchase of the Kit. Books usually arrive within five business days, in a plain padded envelope shipped to the address you indicated at checkout.

International orders typically take longer, usually a week.

eBook PDF Download Issues

If you are downloading the PDF edition, the error message you are receiving is coming from your Adobe Acrobat Reader.  Adobe Acrobat Reader can be a great program, but at times, it can be quite frustrating.  It has some quirks, and things like version compatibility, the version of Windows that you’re running, etc. can cause problems.

This will open a website page. Please click on the link that says “Click Here to Download the PDF”. Do not right-click on this link to save it to your computer, please just click on it normally.  This should launch the book in your internet browser and then you can save it to your computer from there. (Choose File>Save As in your browser’s navigation menu.)

If that does not work, you may need to use the latest version of Adobe Reader. You can get it free from Adobe here:

Once you have downloaded and installed the new version of Acrobat Reader, please reboot your computer and clear the cache memory from your browser.

For Internet Explorer (this will not clear your history or bookmarks):

Step 1: Open Internet Explorer
Step 2: Go to Tools-> Internet Options
Step 3: Under “Temporary Internet Files” Select the “Delete Files…” Button
Step 4: Wait until the hour glass disappears and Select “OK” to exit out of the window
Step 5: Exit out of Internet Explorer and Reboot your Computer.
Step 6: Once your computer is up and running, start another session of Internet Explorer.
Step 7: Go to http://www.dogcancervet.com/members/the-dog-cancer-survival-guide/the-dog-cancer-survival-guide-ebook-download-page and try the download again following the instructions above.

Doing this clears up the issue for most people. If the problem persists please contact us using the form at the bottom of this page, so that we can contact you directly to resolve the issue.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Kindle eBook Download and Transferring Issues

Click the link to download the Kindle (.mobi) file.

What happens next depends upon how your browser is set up to handle downloads.

In most cases, a window will open up that asks you what you want the browser to do with the file. Choose Save File. If you are given a choice about where to save the file, choose an easy place to remember, such as the desktop. If your file downloads automatically, it will be saved in the file set to receive downloads. In most Windows computers, this folder is called Downloads, and it is usually located in the users folder (for example: c:/users/your name/downloads).

The file will download to your computer. If you are not sure where it was saved to, you can search for it from the Start menu. search for files with the extension .mobi.

Once the file is saved to your computer, transfer it to your Kindle using the USB cord that came with your Kindle.

Just connect your Kindle to your computer using the microUSB cord that came with the Kindle.

The Kindle will show up as a “device” in your computer browser window. Windows: Look in “My Computer” or “Computer.” Mac: Look on your Desktop

Click on the Kindle icon to see the contents of your Kindle.

Click on the “Contents” folder.

Drag and drop the .mobi file from its location on your computer into the Contents folder.

Nook eBook Download and Transferring Issues

What happens next depends upon how your browser is set up to handle downloads.

If your file downloads automatically, it will be saved in the file set to receive downloads. Once the file is saved to your computer, transfer it to your Nook using the microUSB cord that came with your Nook.

Connect your NOOK to a computer (using the NOOK microUSB cable) to transfer personal files. Your NOOK will appear on your computer as a removable drive. Just click on the file on your computer and copy it (drag-and-drop) to the appropriate NOOK folder.

iPad/ePub Download Issues

Audiobook mp3 Issues

On this page, you will see three download links, one for each .mp3 file in the audiobook. You should download all three tracks.

To download a track, click the link once. This will open a new window in your browser.

Depending upon your browser type and its settings, the audio file may start playing automatically.

To download the file, click on the audio file itself and choose “save as” from the drop down menu. If that option is not available to you, you can download it by choosing “Save Page As” in the browser’s main navigation menu.

A window will open up and you will be able to save the file to your computer. We suggest using the desktop, because that is easy to remember.

Once the file is on your desktop, you can play it just as you would any other .mp3 file.

I have a question about my dog

If you have a question about something that you have read in The Dog Cancer Survival Guide, please Contact Us and ask your question.

If you have a question about your own dog’s diagnosis, prognosis, or treatment plan, it is difficult for us to help you directly. We at Maui Media are book publishers, and not veterinarians, so we cannot give you advice about your dog. The best thing to do is to consult with your veterinarian or oncologist, directly.

Dr. Dressler has been blogging at DogCancerBlog.com for several years, and it may be that he has already addressed your question there. You can use the search field to put in your keywords. If you still have a question, you can post a comment and ask your question there. The advantage of this, of course, is that other dog lovers dealing with cancer can benefit from your answer. Dr. Dressler is not always able to answer these questions, but he makes every attempt to do so.

Some readers ask if they can consult with Dr. Dressler directly. Because Hawaii has a rabies quarantine law in effect, it is not possible for you to fly your dog to Hawaii to visit Dr. Dressler in person. In general, Dr. Dressler is very busy, but occasionally he is able to conduct phone consults. If you would be interested in a consult, you can contact us to coordinate it, if he is available.

If you decide to return your Dog Cancer Kit, please contact customer support immediately by email (you can use the form lower on this page) and let us know that you will be sending in your return. Make sure that you can ship it to us so that it arrives within 30 days of the date of your original receipt.

Send us your paperback book and a copy of your original order and/or email receipt making sure that your original order ID is in the paperwork. Include a note that you are making a return. Pack the book and paperwork carefully to avoid damage, (bubble wrap is a good idea) and ship to to the following address:

Do not send the book back to the address on the original envelope. That goes back to our printer on the mainland, and they will not know what to do with it. They will not contact us, or send it to us for you, and doing this will void your option for return. You must send the book to us here in Hawaii.

Send the book via a trackable method, such as FedEx or UPS, or USPS as long as it is trackable. Rates to Hawaii tend to be higher than on the mainland. If you send the book via USPS using any method other than Priority Mail, it will take twice as long as you would expect. For example, Media Mail is advertised as arriving within ten to twelve days, but typically arrives at our door in six weeks!

If the book is in good condition (we can re-sell it), and if we receive it within the 30 day timeframe, we will send a full refund that business day. Depending upon how quickly your bank processes refunds, the transaction should hit your account within 24-72 hours. You will receive an automatic email from our bank that will notify you that we have processed your refund on our end.

If the book is not in good condition – if it is damaged or marked up – we will give you a refund minus a restocking fee of 15%.

You will no longer be able to log-in to this site, listen to webinars, download the audibook, or have access to your Apocaps Instant Cash Coupon code. However, any materials that you have already downloaded to your computer are yours to keep. That usually includes the eBook, the Coping Guide, and at least one or two webinars.
